Apple’s iPad Pro lineup is set to get a big revamp in 2024.

Apple is working on a big iPad Pro revamp due as soon as next year. This will be the first major overhaul to Apple’s Pro tablet lineup since 2018.
Besides the switch to M3 chips and a new design, the next-gen iPad Pros will feature OLED displays.
2024 iPad Pro could feature big changes
The current-gen iPad Pro design debuted in 2018. Since then, Apple has updated every 18 months with faster chips and better cameras, but that’s about it. But this will change with the 2023 iPad Pros.
Codenamed J717, J718, J720 and J721, Apple’s next-gen Pro tablet lineup will reportedly switch to OLED displays, reveals Mark Gurman in the latest Power On newsletter. This corroborates previous rumors of the 2024 iPad Pros transitioning to OLED screens.
The current-gen 12.9-inch iPad Pro uses a mini-LED backlit panel with IPS technology, while the smaller 11-inch model uses a Liquid Retina LCD panel. Compared to them, OLED screens can reach higher brightness levels while offering better colors and contrast. Samsung already uses OLED panels on its flagship Galaxy Tab S9 series.
Display size will apparently get a slight bump as well. The bigger model will switch to a 13-inch screen, a 0.1-inch bump from the current version.
An M3 chip will power the tablets. The next-gen SoC is reportedly based on TSMC’s 3nm fab and should bring a notable jump in performance, battery life and efficiency.
New Magic Keyboard also in development
Alongside the new iPad Pros, Apple is working on a new Magic Keyboard. It will seemingly feature a larger trackpad and make the new tablets look more like laptops.
This major upgrade to the iPad Pro should help boost the lineup’s dwindling sales. But this will take a while, as the new iPad Pros won’t launch before 2024. They won’t appear at Apple’s rumored September 12 event, where the iPhone 15 is set to debut.
