Howland police are investigating a break-in at a business on Monday afternoon where intruders set fires and did considerable damage to the Thomas Road warehouse.
The break-in took place sometime before 1 p.m. Monday at the warehouse owned by Proactive Resource Enterprises at 1750 Thomas Road SE.
An employee told police officers he didn’t know how the intruders gained entry because the complex is so massive and there are several breaks in the perimeter fence and several of the warehouse windows were broken. The employee said this has been a recurring problem at the business.
The employee could only report that 10 cans of spray paint were taken but damage was sustained to several areas of the warehouse including office areas.
The report stated that multiple fire extinguishers were set off throughout the complex, and the intruders knocked over several shelves, emptied multiple cartoons of coffee k-cups and creamers. Fires were attempted to be started in office areas and one fire was started and melted a computer monitor there. Two inactive security cameras were unhooked, the report stated, and several tool shelves and cabinets were ransacked.
