MoDT: Intel Raptor Lake Mobile on DeskTop
A mobile & desktop hybrid returns with newer Intel CPUs.
ERYING, a Chinese company specializing in Micro-ATX and Mini-ATX motherboards pre-equipped with Intel CPUs. The first such systems gained recognition with its initial release featuring the Intel Tiger Lake-H (Core i7-11800H), which found popularity among budget-conscious gamers. However, this platform was overdue for an upgrade, leading to last year’s launch of the 12th Gen Core-H series-based systems, including processors up to the Core i7-12800H. Later, ERYING came out with a new version with the unlocked Core i9-12900HK CPU, albeit still limited to 45W power limit.
Recently, ERYING unveiled a fresh iteration of their Micro-ATX form factor system, centered around Intel’s Core i7-13620H and Core i5-13420H Raptor Lake CPUs on BGA1033 package. Reports also indicate that the underlying board for this system relies on the B760M chipset.

The Intel Core i7-13620H processor boasts 6 Performance and 4 Efficient cores, totaling 10 cores and 16 threads. On the other hand, the i5-13420H model features fewer cores, with 4 Performance and 4 Efficient cores. Given their mobile nature, these CPUs are constrained to a 45W TDP, which is even lower than the TDP of most desktop APUs, such as those found in the Ryzen G-Series.
Intel’s desktop Core series, limited to 32 GPU Xe Execution Units, pales in comparison to Raptor Lake mobile’s 64 and 96 EUs. ERYING employs these processors in their hybrid mobile/desktop systems, offering up to 64 EUs, suitable for light home multimedia use but not quite on par with discrete GPU options, including Intel’s Arc series.

Moreover, mobile GPUs impose restrictions on PCIe lanes, with this platform only accommodating 8 lanes for the primary PCIe Gen 4.0 slot. For potential gamers adopting this platform, performance implications might be present, although the use of the newer PCIe standard helps mitigate the noticeable impact seen on a Gen3 x8 interface. Reviews, suggest a possible up to 3% performance loss with an RTX 4090. Worth adding that the system still offers two M.2 2280 slots supported by PCIe Gen4 x4 interface each.

ERYING’s latest motherboards come with standard 24+8pin ATX power connectors attached to a 4+2+1 phase VRM design. They offer support for DDR4 memory with a capacity of up to 64GB and speeds of up to 3200 MT/s. However, there is no information provided about their potential for overclocking.
In terms of connectivity, users will have access to four USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 ports, two HDMI ports, and one DisplayPort capable of delivering 4K output at 60Hz. This comprehensive desktop platform also includes a 1 Gbit LAN port and wireless Wi-Fi support.
The Core i5-13420H variant of the system is now available for 1299 RMB (180 USD), while the Core i7-13620H version costs 1699 RMB (234 USD).
