These 6-liter systems can support up to 100W TDP. The devices, which are still unnamed, employ the Ryzen 9 7945HX3D CPU. The chassis of these PCs can accommodate both Intel and AMD motherboards, differentiated by their specific codenames, which are linked to the Raptor Lake for Intel and Dragon Range series for AMD.
During the “Xiamen HighFun” event in China, Minisforum unveiled their new compact gaming PC prototypes, “Project RPFXI” for Intel platforms and “Project DRFXI” for AMD platforms.
The systems stand out for their adoption of 55W mobile CPUs, blurring the line between mobile and desktop performance. These CPUs maintain desktop-tier specifications, housed in a BGA package, with a default power limit set at 55W. Intel’s HX line offers configurations with up to 8 Performance and 16 Efficient cores (24 cores total), and AMD has introduced its Ryzen 7045HX series with a maximum of 16 Zen4 cores.
Recent information from Minisforum highlighted the inclusion of the Ryzen 9 7945HX3D CPU for the AMD variant. It should be mentioned that other configurations might be available, with a non-Pro version of the 7945HX system potentially in the mix. The X3D series is expected to be a higher-end version of this system. The system can handle up to 100W TDP, suggesting the default power limit for the CPU.
To date, the 7945HX3D CPU has been unique to the ASUS ROG Scar gaming laptop, with its official release set for the present day. The release date for Minisforum’s system hasn’t been confirmed, but a launch was initially forecasted for the end of 2023. This CPU blends the performance of 16 Zen 4 cores with 144 MB of 3D V-cache, all within a 55W power limit. For the AMD platform, Minisforum has confirmed the 7945HX3D CPU as a high-end option, relative to the existing 7945HX configuration.
The system also offers external GPU support. The outer section of the case allows for attachment and is fastened with screws. The chassis can accommodate powerful GPUs, such as the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090, given an appropriate power source is used. The 6-liter mini PC’s anticipated launch is towards the end of 2023, with options for both 24-core Intel (HX line) and 16-core AMD configurations.
